Frequently Asked Questions for Residential Care Positions
Staff are paid in accordance with the Feros Care Enterprise Bargaining Agreement 2009. Rates of pay will be provided at interview. Because Feros Care is a not for profit provider of aged and community services we can also offer an exceptional range of salary packaging entitlements for our permanent members of staff.
Will I need to be available for all types of shifts?
Yes, although you will be given a shift preference form to complete to allow for personal circumstances that might affect your availability
Does that include night shift/sleepover shift?
Yes, staff members should be available to work night shift. Night shift at our Byron Bay facility is a sleepover.
What is the level of responsibility for the sleepover shift at Byron?
Sole responsibility for the building and all of the residents. Back up support is available from the Care Manager.
Is the job physically and emotionally demanding?
Yes.
Will I be required to give out medications?
Yes, but you will receive training and complete a competency prior to taking on this responsibility.
Will I get set shifts every roster?
Permanent staff members will receive at least their minimum contracted hours every roster. The total hours, days of the week and times rostered for work will vary from week to week. Casual staff are not guaranteed shifts and will be engaged to work on an adhoc basis often at short notice.

Do I have to wear a uniform?
As the ‘face’ of Feros Care your presentation is of utmost importance to us and our residents. All staff are required to adhere to the Feros Care dress code at all times when on duty.
